Free Up Some Space On Your DVR Going Into Next Fall!
Mere days after Fox announced that they had given Gotham a green light, The CW has gotten in on the fun by officially ordering The Flash and iZombie to series.
They’ll be joining the already successful Arrow, which is finishing up a highly acclaimed second season and received a third season pickup earlier this year.
As fans know, The Flash is actually an Arrow spinoff. Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen debuted on Arrow earlier this year in a two-part episode that set things up nicely for the Flash pilot episode. In addition, two regular Flash cast members, Danielle Panabaker and Carlos Valdes, appeared in a key episode last month as their Flash character Caitlin Snow and Cisco Ramon.
Also working in the show’s favor is that The Flash is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg (both of whom also executive produce Arrow) and Geoff Johns, who also penned the pilot episode.
Meanwhile, iZombie is inspired by the Vertigo comic book created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred and features a pilot script written by Veronica Mars’ Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero. iZombie is about a med student-turned-zombie named Liv who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.
iZombie stars Once Upon a Time’s Rose McIver as Liv, as well as Robert Buckley, David Anders, Malcolm J. Goodwin, Alexandra Krosney and Rahul Kohli. The one-hour drama is executive produced by Thomas and Ruggiero, as well as Warner Bros. TV’s Dan Etheridge and Danielle Stokdyk.
Not only that, but mere moments after The CW announced the above, NBC announced that the fourth DC Entertainment series under consideration has also been given a green light – that’s right, John Constantine is getting a TV show!
Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer are executive producing the show about British magician slash con man John Constantine, who also just happens to be the world’s best defense against the demonic realm (albeit a bit begrudgingly). Harold Perrineau Jr., Lucy Griffiths and Charles Halford co-star in this series based on the DC Comics – The New 52 ongoing comic book as well as the classic Vertigo title, Hellblazer.

Based on the wildly popular comic book series “Hellblazer” from DC Comics, seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan, “Criminal Minds”) specializes in giving hell… hell.
