Jared is looking for his long-lost father, a spaced-out comicbook artist from way back when, because Killstrike, one of his father’s creations has recently come to life.

Naturally Jared’s search takes him to a comic convention with Killstrike in tow, where they hope to find McNeal, the original artist on the strip, who might give Jared his father’s address.

Throw in a sightseeing trip to London and a bloodfest of a ‘soccer’ match and you’re all set up for the father/son reunion from Hell or at least somewhere very, very weird. Confused? You will be.

Logan Faerber’s artwork is cartoonish enough to work but this is one huge in-joke of a story that’s not nearly as clever or as inventive as it thinks it is. To quote one memorable caption: ‘Who the hell jumps in on issue three of a four issue book? Oh, Killstrike #3 is an oddity that doesn’t invite you with open arms to go out and buy the first three or possibly the last issue.

I am a fan of all things self-referential and poking fun at itself, but it requires a disciplined touch and a deft hand……all things not evident in Oh, Killstrike #3. Which is a great pity.
