A glorious mash-up of monsters, magic and police procedural, – not to mention brutality – when sunlight works better than rubber hoses what choice do you have in Archon Battle of the Dragon #2.

When Gareth says his boss is a real dragon, he means it literally. Hired as the new Chief of Security for Archon, Las Vegas’ swankiest new casino catering for (ahem) ‘family friendly entertainment’ Gareth has trouble telling the difference between real monsters and what he fervently hopes is some kind of animatronic Muppet, which means he may not exactly be the sharpest pencil in the box but his heart’s in the right place.

However, in Archon Battle of the Dragon #2 if Gareth wants to keep it there, that is, in his chest and beating, he needs to raise his game considerably. With Trolls pushing bad Aether on the streets, Gareth may soon wish he were back in Vietnam! Mixing so many different elements is always a risk but Perez and co. don’t put a foot wrong in what is possibly the most entertaining title this month.
