The concluding part of the Vampirella/Army of Darkness #4 storyline sees Vampirella and Ash, still trapped in 1300 AD, take on an army of demons brought to this realm by an order of monks who thought they were summoning angels. Don’t you just hate it when that happens? It’s a bit like when you order takeaway and get extra anchovies instead of pepperoni but with more blood and gore.

Ash gets to pretend to be a monk which is not typical casting I agree, but Vampirella’s presence would cause too much of a stir among the cloisters, but even this subterfuge can’t prevent the demon army from being unleashed. Vampirella must now take a trip to the dark side in order to combat the demon horde, and, if she survives, find her way back to her own time.

In Vampirella/Army of Darkness #4 the red swimsuit is back in fashion and Jet Morales’ art does full justice to it and everything else. To quote Ash, this is: ‘a romp in the English countryside…with a 21st century supermodel’. And when you think about it, who could ask for more?
