Okay, I have to come clean: I’m a sucker for Dragons, Native American Myths and Muppets. And Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Dragons #1 of 4 has all three!

It had me right from the cover art, very reminiscent of the Canadian artist Benjamin Chee Chee. The interior artwork is equally impressive and we could easily be on Fraggle Rock for the opening page as The Storyteller (not to mention his talking dog – I just love talking dogs!) begins his tale about the Horned Serpent. Ah, bliss.

In Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Dragons #1 of 4 the story concerns a father and son fishing trip that goes deeply wrong and segues into a fable about the meaning of love and sacrifice complete with a helpful sparrow channelling his inner Jiminy Cricket to point the way forward and warn of dangers ahead.

Am I underselling this? I don’t mean to because this is high concept, high art and highly recommended. Buy Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Dragons #1 of 4, read it and wallow in the wonderfulness of it all.
