In Rowans Ruin #3 of 4 Katie is a ghost whisperer who is trying to put a stop to the nearly departed Cole family persecuting her friend Emily. And we all know what they say about a friend in need, right? They’re a pain in the … well, you get the picture.

Rowans Ruin #3 of 4 feels like it ought to be the opening episode. The action is stretched out and much of it feels like padding but the sequence where Katie communes with Emily’s dead boyfriend is deftly handled and raises a few chuckles. Other than that, Katie talks a lot, but then that’s her thing, talking, and it doesn’t much matter to her if you’re alive or dead. By deliberately putting herself in harm’s way she forces events to come to a head although not in the way she thought.

For the reader, however, in Rowans Ruin #3 of 4 will certainly have guessed the big reveal on the final page. Rowans Ruin #3 of 4 is a nice, cozy, TV movie sort of story about your average haunted house. Pleasant enough but it doesn’t raise enough goose-bumps to be a real contender.
