In Green Lantern Corps: Edge of Oblivion #1 the Corps is in dire straits; picking up the story from Green Lantern: Lost Army. The Green Lantern Corps is trapped in time at the end of the previous universe and, six months later, have yet to find passage back home.

After living planet Mogo shines a light to attract some missing Corps members, the group encounters Dimsas and Asuras, two 30-foot tall guardians of the last city in the dying universe. The Lanterns agree to help the inhabitants escape with them, but there are mysterious rogue elements in the city that would sabotage the effort.

The plot itself is simple but writer Tom Taylor still makes the story worth reading. He knows Guy Gardner may be the most interesting Green Lantern among them, and gives Guy plenty of dialogue to entertain us. “It’s hard to take a swearing squirrel seriously,” he says to B’Dg. Ethan Van Sciver is one of DC’s star artists, and he does not disappoint here, aided by Jason Wright’s careful coloring.

Green Lantern Corps: Edge of Oblivion #1 is off to a fine start. It’s not ground breaking but it is entertaining and that’s plenty of reason to pick up a copy.
