We all know Rock ‘n’ Roll is the Devil’s music but a coven of Phonomancers?  Come on, who writes this stuff? Oh, yea, Kieron Gillen, blame him then.  I could say that coming in new to Phonogram with issue 6 of 6 is the reason none of this makes any sense, but I get the feeling what went before would be just as mystifying.

Phonogram The Immaterial Girl #6 takes a leaf from the Wizard of Oz, there’s a King Behind the Screen who grants wishes but at a terrible cost, just ask Emily Aster, she’s spent the last ten years ruling the aforementioned coven only to have her doppelganger twin take over her life and trap her in a world of music videos.

Phonogram The Immaterial Girl #6 is a lot of pseudo mysticism peppered with song references and deep, meaningful phrase like:  ‘I’m having all the thoughts in the world’, ‘A coven diaspora. Heading into the wasteland of our thirties…’ and ‘We’re all the man in the mirror.’ For Phonogram The Immaterial Girl #6, there’s a bit of blood, some deeply disturbed navel gazing and half-hearted sorcerous sibling bonding and a track listing at the end..

Now where are Dorothy’s red shoes when you need them because Phonogram The Immaterial Girl #6, is, unfortunately, is nothing like home.
