When vengeful spirits cross over into our world, who ya gonna call? “Spirit Hunters!” That’s the basic premise of Spirit Hunters #2 and the remaining ten issues of this twelve issue run I guess and you can’t really argue with it since it does exactly what it says on the tin.

In a tale entitled “The Bloody Carnival” and, no, that’s not a mild cuss word, that’s a literal description of what follows, our intrepid Spirit Hunters (one hot babe who happens to be the resident psychic, one nerdy professor type, one cool dude and one annoying teenager) are dispatched to investigate some mysterious death at the carnival.

If you ever wondered why people scream when on a roller coaster, this is your chance to find out. After some fun in the world’s most un-funny fun house, Spirit Hunters #2 plays out like a standard TV cop show but with added supernatural elements.

The denouement in, Spirit Hunters #2, when it comes seems too easily arrived at and the final resolution too pat. For something that is intrinsically spooky, Spirit Hunters #2 needs more chills to be in the top rank of ghostly titles, but it’s enjoyable enough and the characters, if a little underdeveloped and a little over tick boxed, have potential that will hopefully come to the fore before Spirit Hunters twelve issue run is over.
