Fantasy World of Bettie Page #2
Tidal Wave Productions

Iconic 1950’s model, Playmate of the Month, bondage movie actress, Christian convert and a supporter of the evangelist Billy Graham, the real-life Bettie Page has done it all! And now she has her very own comic book.

In Fantasy World of Bettie Page #2 the Reds have come out from under the bed and Colonel Elizaveta Vetrov tries to fire up her cyborg implants by using the syphoned off energy of a concentration camp inmate who possesses incalculable power. Luckily for the free world, the man in charge of all this mayhem, General Kozlov, is besotted by, you guessed it, Bettie Page and has invited Bettie, the most unlikely spy this side of James Bond, and her “handler” (snigger) George for a visit.

Over a meal of borscht and coulibiac, in Fantasy World of Bettie Page #2 – don’t ask – the besotted Russian makes Bettie an offer he hopes she can’t refuse. With things quickly spiralling out of control and George (“don’t call me Georgie”) landing in hot water, Bettie takes the whip hand and goes on the offensive.

In the preview edition I read, some of the panels are out of sequence, but hopefully that will have been corrected before they were distributed. Either way, it can’t detract from the sheer fun of Fantasy World of Bettie Page #2. Innuendo, and fetish heavy with a hefty dose of spy whimsy that would have Napoleon Solo crying in his beer, this is a Bettie Page renaissance, hitting the spot in every sense of the word.
