Sons Of The Devil #13 Image Comics

Twenty-five years ago, the Devil came to Lester, Texas looking for The Chosen One. And he found him. Now, in Sons Of The Devil #13 a psycho is kidnapping orphans and claiming he is their father just so he can sacrifice them and let the Devil live again through The Chosen One.

Sounds crazy, but it could happen. As Sons Of The Devil #13 is the penultimate chapter in this particular story-arc and, since this is the first issue I’ve actually read, not a whole lot makes much more sense than that. Too many characters to really get a handle on at this late stage, but the tone and the atmosphere of Sons Of The Devil #13 make me wish I’d been here for all the preceding twelve issues.

The notional hero in Sons Of The Devil #13, as far as I can make out, is a guy called Travis who may, or may not be The Chosen One, but it looks like (possibly) his pregnant girlfriend, Melissa, is one of the kidnapped orphans.

Sons Of The Devil #13 ends with Travis on his way to the sacrificial site and a showdown with the Devil and all his disciples, which so far seems to be just one mad-as-a-box-of-frogs guy with a deranged grin. Read Sons Of The Devil #13 and appreciate it for its episodic brilliance and then wait for the collected edition which I guarantee will be awesome.
