Batman #45 has a super-creepy ending you don’t want to miss. The story starts with Jim Gordon beset by the Devil Pigs gang, and about to die unless he can Batman his way out. Gordon is outside his robot suit but in a protective bat-skin. He’s looking for Bloom, who is a cross between Poison Ivy and Marvel’s Carnage. The long fight scene is beautifully colored in pink and purples and is graphically blunt and bloody.

Meanwhile, in Batman #45, Bruce Wayne’s rehabilitation continues, and bright colors follow the new Bruce, now free of the Batman’s darkness. Gordon makes nice with his boss Geri Powers. But her plans for Gordon are unexpected.

By far the best part of Batman #45 is Bloom. It doesn’t matter that he speaks like a thug spouting cheap patter (“The party’s just starting.”), ‘cause we’re talkin’ about Bloom, so you can dig it. How he looks and what he does are so terrifying that he can say any damn thing he wants. But Bloom appears just in a couple of panels and we need more!

Things are moving fast in Batman #45, and more changes are coming to Batman. Fine. But stop teasing us. More Bloom already!
