Well, the comic book Gods of publishing schedules do exist! In Batman Europa #3 the deadly potion slowly killing the Caped Crusader and Joker is ramping up. One of the side effects of the poison turns out to be the breaking down of Batman’s emotional barriers and, alarmingly, Batman is beginning to understand and, dare I say it, appreciate and imitate some aspects of the Joker’s personality.

So in Batman Europa #3 this unlikely – dying before their very eyes – team up reach Paris, and dark Gotham-dweller Batman reveals his ironic love for the City of Light. Batman’s irritation with the Joker stems not only from the Joker’s French accent, but his well-established Parisian presence (the French, it has been said, love a clown). However, deep in Paris’ famed catacombs the panels on the page begin to reflect Batman’s increasing hallucinatory state as the toxin courses through his flesh.

For Batman Europa #3 artist Giuseppe Camuncoli ‘s drugged out panels are impressive, slowly taking away any sense from the tableau until only gibberish remains. As Batman slips into madness will the Joker slip into sanity?

Is the next issue of Batman Europa just two weeks away? Kneel with me now and pray. ‘Our publisher, who art in California, get the next issue out now…..Batman Europa is really too good to be waited for!
