For Joe Golem #5 egotistical millionaires make the best bad guys? Nobody has any sympathy for them and you’re willing to believe they’d do the most foul, stupid and dangerous things just because they can.

That’s pretty much what we have here as Joe Golem and his partner Simon Church struggle to reverse a spell that is bringing the Drowned City’s waterlogged dead back to life. It’s a zombie fest much of the time but we do get to learn a bit more about Church’s biomechanical magic and Joe’s girl turns out to be a handy seamstress in a pinch!

Although this is Joe Golem #5 of 5, It seems unlikely Joe Golem’s story will end here. Joe’s dreams about a medieval clay monster are still haunting him and there is bound to be another nasty lurking below the surface of the Drowned City to bedevil our heroes.

Joe Golem #5, no fancy costumes, no flashy powers, just one of the most sympathetic characters in comic books and long may the soggy saga of Joe Golem continue.
