Okay, here’s the deal in Namesake #1. Earth is boring and normal, Ektae is cool and runs on alchemy and once every seven years both planes of existence merge for one week and Earthers get to party hearty with dirty magic and have to take precautions against venereal hexes!

Jordan Molossus is a firefighter in Namesake #1 who is busy putting right the damage the Earth/ Ektae combination has created. He is also a child of both realms and when he receives two urns containing his estranged fathers’ ashes and a note from dear departed dad hinting at dark deeds in the past, he knows he has just one week to travel to Ektae and put things right.

Steve Orlando gives us a concept for Namesake #1 that is just weird enough to take the standard hero’s journey and raise it to the level of classy and maybe classic comic book entertainment. Whether four issues will be enough to do Namesake #1  justice and whether an ongoing series can be wrangled out of the ‘once every seven years’ angle remains to be seen but Namesake #1 gets us off to a rollicking start.
