Everyone knows the Jungle Book right? So, who’s the bikini babe on the cover of Jungle Book: 2016 Holiday Special and why the heck is it snowing?!

Welcome to the wild and whacky world of re-imagining. If you’ve read the original trilogy you will know that this version of the Jungle Book takes place on the island of Kipling and Mowgli is a girl, one of many children, taken from the world of man and marooned on the island, as was her black panther mentor Bagheera.

When snow falls on the island for the first time in Jungle Book: 2016 Holiday Special all the animal tribes get their fur in an uproar and the villainous bears of the Bada Dar, led by the orang-utan Bandar Louis, take it as a sign that they should rise and take over Kipling for themselves and only Mowgli and Bagheera stand in their way.

It might not have any songs, but Jungle Book: 2016 Holiday Special has slick storytelling and an obvious love of the original Kipling classic at its very heart. If talking animals jingle your bells this Christmas, this snow covered jungle epic deserves a place on every good little boy and girl’s Christmas list.
