WILDSTORM/IDW ALUM RECREATE COMIC BOOK CREATIVES SERVICES COMPANY

Before DC Comics took over WildStorm Productions, they were one of the leading creative services companies that specialized in custom comic book artwork and DVD menu design.   The division was run by Kris Oprisko and Darren G. Davis, who are now are back together to recreate history with this new venture at Bluewater Productions.

Working on custom projects such as Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Shrek and other high profile work, the creative services division of WildStorm was a big money making division for the company.

Kris Oprisko has worked in the entertainment and publishing industry since 1995. Originally joining the editorial department of Jim Lee’s WildStorm Productions, he later helped to form its trading card department before taking over as Director of Consumer Products. In 1999, Kris left WildStorm to found Idea & Design Works, LLC with three partners. Idea & Design Works has become IDW Publishing, the premier small comic book publisher in the United States.

“I’m very happy to have the opportunity to work with Darren again. We share a common goal… to set the standard on what a custom comic can be. The future is going to be exciting,” said Oprisko.

Davis, making his way in the world by marketing the entertainment industry at such companies as E! Entertainment Television and USA Networks, After his tenure at DC Comics in, Darren joined on as President of Joe Madureira’s Beyond Entertainment as well as representing the top comic book artists in the industry such as Andy Park, Adam Hughes, Keu Cha, Randy Green, Chris Bachelo and more. Darren took the next step towards creative freedom and formed his own publishing company known as Bluewater Productions.

“We are working with a huge stable of the top artists in the industry again and to have a talent like Kris be a partner in this again – is just icing”, said Davis.

Bluewater is working with Lisa K. Brause and Jason Schultz to help expand this new division.  Bluewater Creative Services will be using their stable of artists as well as some of the newest top artists in the comic book market for this venture.

Previous clients include DreamWorks, Lionsgate, SONY, Activision, Capcom, Major League Baseball & more.
