8house: Arclight looks and reads like it was written and drawn by two young teenage fans. 8house: Arclight seems immature and pedestrian from the beginning and feels like a high school project looking for merit instead of reward.
Brandon Graham’s script is lacking and seems to suck all the adventure out of…well adventure. “The Lady and Arclight have travelled miles over mountains: to distant forests and empty valleys.” 8house: Arclight begins to feel like a case study in the ho hum, here we go again, stakes. Everything is stated in the most obvious fashion, and every character speaks in the same way. “It’s big,” says Arclight in describing an unseen threat. Although, may be the character is reading from a shopping list. It’s hard to tell.
Marian Churchland’s artwork is on the same level as the script. It’s loose and unattractive and many of the pages in 8house: Arclight look rushed and uncared for.
Then again, if you are in your teens, maybe this is will seem like the bee’s knees…….
