Anyone wishing Lady Rawhide / Lady Zorro would end on a high note is likely to be disappointed. In Lady Rawhide / Lady Zorro #4 Shannon Eric Denton’s writing seems flat, pedantic and tedious. Although Rey Villegas’ artwork appears less rushed, more focused, if still sketchy.

The mash-up of the two heroines, Lady Rawhide / Lady Zorro, still feels forced; the villain is evil but dull and the bad guys have sharp-shooting aim as dreadful as Imperial Storm Troopers. Why, you will find yourself asking, do they even carry guns? They would probably have more success with harsh language.

Lady Rawhide receives a skull shattering blow to the head she is, of course not rendered unconscious. But when Lady Rawhide socks a man on the jaw down he goes. And covered by a dozen guns Lady Rawhide still manages to pull out a whip without anyone reacting. It’s a miracle these heavies managed to button their shirts let alone organize a massive slave ring.

And when Lady Rawhide / Lady Zorro do finally get in trouble, at that moment third parties miraculously arrive to tip the scales in their favour. The rescue is supposed to be a surprise but instead comes off as trite as a cavalry attack on the………………Sorry, apologies, I nodded off.

Still, if your thing is plunging necklines, strapping thighs and tight buns, this just might be your thing.
