Everybody’s favourite good vampire in the iconic red swimsuit is back and in a cauldron full of trouble in Vampirella/Army of Darkness #3. When Ash messed up a spell from the Necronomicon both he and Vampirella were transported to 1300 AD and now he must act as her defence attorney (never trust a lawyer with a book of arcane magic that’s what I say) as our blood-sucking cutie is tried as a witch by the seriously creepy Black Friar Thomas.

Now, a witch is one thing but a vampiress is quite another and what works on one won’t necessarily work on the other. In Vampirella/Army of Darkness #3 as this most unusual case of mistaken identity resolves itself an army of demons waits in the wings.

Vampirella/Army of Darkness #3 has slick dialogue, humour, well developed characters and topnotch artwork (even if the red swimsuit is replaced by a bundle of rags bikini for this issue) and the cover art wins the nudge-nudge-wink-wink award for this month hands down. Vampirella/Army of Darkness #3 is Vampirella’s umpteenth reincarnation but whatever Vampirella’s current backstory might be, here she is in all her glory and long may Vampirella reign.
