The new season of Daredevil is everything fans hoped for and more. The first eleven minutes of Daredevil Season 2 Episode 1 “Bang” in a manner never boring or pedantic reintroduces Hell’s Kitchen, lawyers Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Foggy Nelson (Eldon Henson), Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Daredevil kicking ass. Bravo to writers Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramierez using dialogue and action to do it and not ducking into a lazy narration.
In Daredevil Season 2 Episode 1: Bang, it’s a St. Patrick’s Day massacre and the Irish mob planning to take over Daredevil’s neighborhood is brazenly gunned down military-style. But whodunit? The answer comes soon when a vigilante stalks Murdock and Nelson’s new client, the only massacre survivor. And just like that, it’s Daredevil versus the Punisher (Jon Bernthal)! Squeeee! Fanboys and girls, take moment and reflect.
Daredevil Season 2 Episode 1: Bang pulls no punches. Hells Kitchen is dark and foreboding (what the Disney-looking streets of CW’s Gotham want to be). The massacre is brutal.
Daredevil Season 2 Episode 1: Bang was so engaging it seemed to be over in a heartbeat. Well-written, acted and directed, this season opener holds the viewer’s interest to the very end, and will make you want more. Good thing the entire series is now streaming on Netflix. The series is definitely worth the price of admission. Daredevil Season 2 Episode 1: Bang is another Marvel lesson on how great comic book shows should be produced for television.
