For those new to this title, Imperium #14 is kinda late to be jumping on, but fear not, those nice people at Valiant have given you a comprehensive rundown on what you’ve missed so far.

Don’t let that put you off of Imperium #14. It is as complicated as heck so here’s a digest version: Toyo Harada is the bad guy with good intentions (he wanted to start a war to save the world, the crazy mixed up kid) and Rising Spirit Industries, a greedy, unscrupulous military contractor are the good guys whose foot-soldiers are called H.A.R.D  Core. Or that could be the other way around, depending on your point of view. Oh, and everyone has psionic abilities. There, you’re all caught up.

Not that Imperium #14 gets and easier to understand from here on in. An extended battle sequence flits around from one place and one team to the other as it builds towards some mega climactic conclusion, possibly featured in the next issue, then again, maybe not.

If Imperium #14 has a flaw, it’s the requirement of a score card to keep everything straight. A compassionate robot, Mech Major gets all the best lines, even if it’s only one this time around due to lack of space. Imperium #14 is a high concept offering with glossy artwork and if that’s your bag, you’ll be in hog heaven.
