Well, this is an odd one for me to really review. I’ve never reviewed an art book before, but here we go. Eyes down for a very full house in The Art of Rahsan Ekedal (HC).
Rahsan Ekedal long career in the realm of illustration means he has worked for, amongst others, Boom! Comics, DC, Vertigo, Top Cow and Image. Fantasy fans might know Ekedal as the artist behind Warhammer comics for BOOM! Studios. The Cleaners for Dark Horse, The Crazies for Top Cow Entertainment. Ekedal has won awards from the comic industry for his work over the years.
The Art of Rahsan Ekedal collects artwork, sketches, storyboards and more from Ekedal’s work at Top Cow and Image over the past decade, focusing on his titles such as Think Tank, The Tithe and Echoes, which won Ekedal a Harvey award.
The Art of Rahsan Ekedal is a difficult one in the long run. If you were a fan of Think Tank, Echoes or The Tithe, then it might be worth adding The Art of Rahsan Ekedal to your collection, same for if you’re a fan of art books too. But more likely one for the hardcore base who like to see stuff like this, but an easy pass for the casual reader more interested in the stories than behind the scenes material like this.
