The Backstagers #2 (of 8) BOOM! Box

The Backstagers #2 is sort of like ‘Glee’ crossed with ‘The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe’ except instead of a wardrobe leading to a mystical land we have the backstage passages of the St. Genesius Auditorium and instead of fauns, witches and magical lions we get big spiders. Add a cast of total theatricals including the outrageous McQueen brothers and you get the general idea of what The Backstagers is all about.

People, it seems, disappear in those backstage passages and newbie Jory wants to find out what’s happening.  Most of The Backstagers #2 is taken up with his journey into the passages to find missing Stage Managers Timothy and Jamie and the dropping of a few cryptic clues about Backstagers who went missing in 1987.

The cartoony artwork of The Backstagers #2 and the style of the dialogue gives the whole thing a tongue in cheek, camp feel that may or may not be intended. If you like musical comedy, this may appeal to you. Personally, I don’t think it can hold a candle to The Rocky Horror Show.
