Archie’s 75th Anniversary Digest #6
Archie Comics

My, but they grow up so fast! Archie Andrews is 75 years old! And he’s still in High School! But then we wouldn’t want him any other way.

Archie’s 75th Anniversary is a mammoth 225-page digest features Archie and his pal Jughead in new and classic stories, some of which, as the cover helpfully tells us were: ‘created in a less socially sensitive time in our society and reflects attitudes that may be interpreted as being unacceptable today. The stories are reprinted here without alteration for historical reference.’

So, if you want to see what un-PC stuff your parents or grandparent laughed at when they were your age, Archie’s 75th Anniversary Digest #6 is the place to be! Changing social climate aside, this is pure gold from one of comic books greatest characters. The new stories retain the essence of the old and the visuals are perfect facsimiles of the original style.

There are far too many stories here to go into detail about all of them but Jughead’s love of burgers features strongly and Betty’s love for the oblivious Archie is also well to the fore. They visit the future and a swanky restaurant, and we visit the past with an episode featuring Little Archie and Little Jughead.

As a companion piece to Archie’s 75th Anniversary Digest #6, Archie Comics have also published Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #276, a 192-page compilation of brand new stories. Treat yourself to both and chuckle yourself into insensibility with Riverdale’s golden greats who are still making headlines today.
