Dark Horse Comics

Graduated from the pages of Hellboy, Abe is doing very nicely in his own title, thank you very much. Abe Sapien #32 sees our favourite fishman severing his connection with the BPRD as he tries to discover his true connection to the forces threatening to destroy the world.

In Abe Sapien #32 a showdown with  two-hundred-year-old necromancer Gustav Strobl is on the cards, in Brooklyn no less, but before that, a bit of past life regression looks to be in order. Can old cassette tapes hidden behind a grandfather clock provide a vital clue to Abe’s past? They certainly provide intriguing information about the occult Oannes Society who were responsible for turning Victorian scientist Langdon Everett Caul into Abraham Sapien in the first place.

Abe Sapien #32 has a much darker feel to it than Hellboy and uses Mike Mignola’s  labyrinthine back story to maximum effect, but don’t let that put you off. As Abe peels back the layers of his consciousness you will find out all you need to know. Abe Sapien #32 is textured, intelligent storytelling and superb artwork combining to set new standards to a justifiable comic book classic. Abe Sapien #32 is must read for all fans of serious comic books.
