Simon Spurrier has announced the launch of a webcomic he’s been developing (for publisher Avatar) for the better part of a year. It’s going to be running in online episodes for two years – 12 new pages completely free every week.
It’s called CROSSED: Wish You Were Here. And you can find the first episode here, all 24 pages of it. Please do give it a read (but beware: it’s not safe-for-work, and – given the genre – it’s Not For Everyone).
Simon Spurrier said: “Inevitably this sort of thing is going to attract slasher fans, horror-junkies, bodyshock fanatics, that sort. Fine, good, dandy. But – in keeping with the “Crossed” universe in which the story’s set (as created by Garth Ennis back in 2007) – I’ve worked hard to make Wish You Were Here more than just overblown gratuitousness. As the months progress this little critter becomes a very complex human story about hope, art, love, cowardice, manipulation… It just, um, just happens to open with a guy doing unspeakable things to a dolphin. Don’t judge me.”
