Following the success of BOOM! Studios 2 Guns #1 debut at the box office, Universal has optioned another BOOM! title, Day Men by Matt Gagnon, Michael Alan Nelson, and Brian Stelfreze.  Though the comic  series only debuted last month, Deadline has reported that a “a preemptive seven-figure bid” for Day Men is what acquired the option for Universal.

The vampire series takes a new tack on the genre, where bloodsuckers aren’t the main focus.  Instead, the saga centers around the Day Men, who protect and do the bidding of the ruling vampire families, and there is much more to the idea of vampires and the world they live in than meets the eye.

With the comic’s high concept premise, it would appear that Universal has potential hopes of turning the concept into a long-running franchise, very much like Resident Evil or Underworld.
