AMC teases Walking Dead prequel

Scheduled to premiere in the US this summer, Fear the Walking Dead explores the origins of the epidemic that led to the zombie apocalypse that sets the scene for the hit TV series based on writer Robert Kirkman’s Image comic, The Walking Dead.

Starring Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey, the new series is set amid the streets of Los Angeles, during the early days of the infection.

Series creator Robert Kirkman together with The Walking Dead‘s Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert are executive producers of the new series, which is being produced by AMC Studios. Dave Erickson (Marco Polo, Sons of Anarchy), who co-created and co-wrote the pilot with Kirkman, is an executive producer and showrunner. Adam Davidson – whose TV credits include episodes of Hell on Wheels and The Following – will direct the pilot episode.

The first season of “Fear the Walking Dead” will consist of six one-hour episodes and will premiere on AMC this summer with a second season already ordered and set to debut in 2016.
