Alabaster The Good, The bad and The Bird #3 asks the obvious question: when was the last time you picked up a naked hitchhiker? Chances are, even if you did she wouldn’t be an albino reject from Hell summoned by two incestuous bounty hunters for who knows what twisted reason.

Dancy Flammarion is the hitchhiker’s name and just what she was doing in Hell has probably been explained in the first two issues of Alabaster but for now, you’ll just have to take it on trust that there was a good reason for it.

In Alabaster The Good, The bad and The Bird #3, after the two bounty hunters have been chased off by a posse of hellhounds, Dancy hitches a ride with a mysterious stranger who knows more about her past than he should which gives us a peek into the twisted history of our pink-eyed hitchhiker.  Where did she come from, what did she do that condemned her to Hell and what will she do now that she’s back in the mortal world?

All good questions in Alabaster The Good, The bad and The Bird #3 that will no doubt be answered in time, but for now, just wallow in the savage beauty of the warped and wonderful characters, the bayou setting so evocative you can practically smell the alligator droppings, the punchy dialogue and the complex inter-personal relationships that are unfolding before your eyes. And always remember to keep a fig leaf in the back of your truck in case you do meet a hitchhiker from Hell suffering from a drastic wardrobe malfunction.
