Ninjak, aka Colin King, is a spy and a mercenary, albeit one with a conscience that often makes him ally himself with the good guys. Ninjak #13 is the concluding chapter in a story in Ninjak #13 (Operation: Deadside part 4),  Ninjak and the mystic cutie Punk Mambo journey to the alternate dimension of Deadside to rescue a stranded strike team, missing during one of Mambo’s previous missions to this land of the dead. So in Ninjak #13 (Operation: Deadside part 4) the only thing standing in their way is an ugly troll-thing called Ember and the enigmatic Shadowman, a former good guy Ninjak wants to bring back to the side of the angels.

Exactly why Colin King calls himself Ninjak isn’t really clear in Ninjak #13 (Operation: Deadside part 4)and spies who go around in purple body armour tend to stand out a bit, which means, as a central character he seems a tad mixed up.

Much better formed in Ninjak #13 (Operation: Deadside part 4) is Punk Mambo whose character seems better suited to this sort of supernaturally orientated scenario. As this is set in England we get lots of ‘cor, blimey guv’ accents and spy talk about “stolen packages” because, just for the record, MI-6 is deeply into other dimensional mysticism.

Ninjak #13 (Operation: Deadside part 4) seems very much a sort of James Bond meets Dr. Strange with Michael Caine accents; not always a seamless mix but who doesn’t love a purple Loa or two?
