If there’s one thing that Dynamite are well known for and have bought back in an amazing fashion, it’s the pulp hero. In 2012, Dynamite released their first crossover event, Masks, which featured pretty much every single masked hero there is from the 1930s, so how do Dynamite top such an epic event?

Masks 2, is a multi-timeline event. Featuring heroes from the 1930s, the 1970s, and even the present day, to do battle against a mysterious villainess called The Red Death, taken straight from Edgar Allen Poe’s short story, The Masque of Red Death.

From the 1930s,  The Shadow, Green Hornet, Kato, Miss Fury, Black Sparrow and the Black Terror facing off against the Red Death, who’s power is to cause a plague capable of killing millions in mere seconds. Jumping ahead to the 1970s, the next generation of heroes are Green Hornet and Kato, Miss Fury and Black Terror. In the modern age Peter Cannon and Black Bat.

In Masks 2 the thing making the story work is the time skipping, removing a lot of cumbersome narration. Masks 2 has that many heroes, it’s  bursting at the seams with many just there because they could be. Once again, this is a very niche title, but if you happen to like your pulp heroes, vigilantes and heroines, then this will tickle your fancy, whet your appetite and keep you reading to find out what happens next.
