Dominatrix: Hellbent In Heels
Arcana Studio and Simmons Comics

Rock legend Gene Simmons has his own comic book line! Who knew? But if you had to guess what sort of comic book the Kiss frontman would come up with, top of your list would probably not be talking animals or true love stories, right? Right!

Dominatrix: Hellbent In Heels is most definitely neither of those two things. Dominique is, yes, you guessed it, a Dominatrix, but one who has a side line working for former client, Doug, and his outfit, The Company fighting threats foreign and domestic. Hey, there’s only so much slap and tickle a girl can take before it gets boring, so why not? And if you thought being a Dominatrix was rough, Dominique has already been sexually assaulted and a close friend of hers has been put in a coma thanks to her extra-curricular activities and that’s before Dominatrix: Hellbent In Heels even gets started. Yikes!

No wonder then Dominique wants nothing more to do with The Company. Does she get her wish? Does she heck. When Doug turns up with a new mission and a handful of gene modification pills Dominique nearly slaps him through a wall, but he’d only enjoy it, and then can’t wait to slip into something less comfortable as she heads out to Hawaii. Once there, we get contacts with sucking chest wounds, gun clubs, illegal arms dealing and genetically modified ‘butterflies’ the size of … well, you wouldn’t want me to spoil all the fun, now would you?

And that is just Lesson 1 in Dominatrix: Hellbent In Heels. Lesson 2 and 3 sees girl on girl violence, and not the pretty kind, more violence of the regular sort than you can shake a bullwhip at and the most ridiculous change into a superhero costume since Clark Kent first needed to make a phone call in the middle of an alien invasion.

Dominatrix: Hellbent In Heels #1 is risqué, risky and fun, fun, fun. Erik Hendrix has channelled Gene Simmons’ persona and infused it into every panel and Kewber Baal’s artwork is stunning and salacious without tipping over into top shelf muckiness which, with a title like Dominatrix: Hellbent In Heels, would have been so easy to do. Instead, Dominatrix: Hellbent In Heels is a spiced up espionage thriller with added PVC accessories which proves that anyone can be a hero.

Move over Diana Prince, there’s  a new feminine icon in town.
